Beginner / Lesson 4 (Guess Who!, What Do You Look Like?) || Learn Malay Through English ||

In this lesson, there would be two parts, "Guess Who!" and "What Do You Look Like?"
First Part: Guess Who!"
In the first part, we are going to learn how to be able to describe the person by using other than using personal pronouns.
1. Woman / Lady - Wanita
- The woman is beautiful. - Wanita itu cantik.
("cantik" means beautiful)
2. Man - Lelaki
- The man is tall. - Lelaki itu tinggi.
("tinggi" means tall)
3. Girl - Perempuan
- The girl is cute. - Perempuan itu comel.
("comel" means cute)
4. Boy - Lelaki
- The boy is young. - Lelaki itu muda.
("muda" means young)
5. Child - Budak (gender neutral)
Budak perempuan (female)
Budak lelaki (male)
6. Friend - Kawan / Rakan
("kawan" is more commonly used)
- We are friends. - Kami adalah kawan.
7. Colleague - Rakan sekerja
("kerja" means work, "se-" is an abbreviation of "satu" which means one)
- They are colleagues. - Mereka adalah rakan sekerja.
Second Part: What Do You Look Like?
In this part, we are going to learn how to describe the physical appearance of a person.
1. Long-haired - Berambut panjang
("rambut means hair, "panjang" means long)
- The girl has long hair. - Perempuan itu berambut panjang.
2. Brown-coloured eyes - Mata berwarna perang
("mata" means eyes, "berwarna" means coloured, "perang" means brown)
- The boy has brown-coloured eyes. - Lelaki itu mempunyai mata berwarna perang.
("mempunyai" means has or owns)
3. Brown-haired - Berambut perang
- You are brown-haired. - Awak adalah berambut perang.
4. Tall - Tinggi
- Is your mother tall or short? - Adakah ibu awak tinggi ke pendek?
"adakah" are the words "Is/Are" used in interrogative form, "ke" means or)
5. Short - Pendek
- You are short. - Awak adalah pendek.
6. Old - Tua
- We are not old. - Kami bukan tua. / Kita bukan tua.
("bukan" means not)
7. Short-haired - Berambut pendek
- That man is short-haired. - Lelaki itu berambut pendek.
8. Young - Muda
- I am young. - Saya adalah muda.
Saya muda.
