Beginner / Lesson 1 (Hello) || Learn Malay Through English ||


The Malay language...

The Malay language is commonly known as Bahasa Melayu whereby "Bahasa" means "Language" and "Melayu" means "Malay".
          It is widely used in the southern countries of South East Asia such as Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia. 


It is also the national language of Malaysia whereby it is known as Bahasa Malaysia which means the Malaysian Language.

In this lesson, the theme would be "Hello" whereby we would learn the simple greetings in Malay.

 1. Hello / Hi -  Hello / Hai (informal)
                       Selamat sejahtera / Salam sejahtera (formal)
2. Good morning - Selamat pagi
3. Good afternoon - Selamat tengahari
4. Good evening - Selamat petang
5. Good night - Selamat malam
6. See you later! - Jumpa nanti!
7. Goodbye / Have a great stay! - Selamat tinggal
8. Goodbye / Have a great journey! - Selamat jalan

By just reading the title for our lesson, it got me wondering. What is the average age when toddlers start counting? Do you remember the age when you started counting? My earliest memory was when I was around the age of five, in kindergarten.
